882 Sbc Heads Specs - promocancun

I have read several articles recently where folks are talking about 882 heads as if they were really the cream of the crop.

The 993 is a 'heavy' casting 76cc chamber head that is actually not bad for performance work.

882 heads are not as bad as some say, i have 390hp out of the motor in kims wagon.

The 882 head is the most produced chevy cylinder head over and above all other casting numbers.

The vortecs not only out flow the '882 head below 0. 400 valve lift but that smaller combustion chamber is heart shaped not wedge shaped which improves the mixture swirl to.

Depending on the cam, intake, pistons, and headers you run, you might.

I’ve got some 1974 882 to heads on my 383.

I assume that the 882 refers to the serial number.

In the garage is a well used 350 wearing some heads with casting 993.

Anyone know what the spark plug reach spec is for this head?

I'm getting ready to rebuild my 400 sbc and am on a tight budget.

Best i can find is a fairly consistent >200cfm rating.

I did the math on pat kelleys calculator and i came up with 9. 2:1 with these heads and 10. 4:1 with 64cc heads that i planned on using.

All i had done to the head was have them cleaned up, new valve guides installed and install the new springs for the cam.

Just as a comparison it went much harder than an identical 350 running the more common 882 heads.

I`m going to see if the machine shop can.
